  • Can I change the line of intent colours?

    It is against brand guidelines to change the lines of intent colours – they should always be either black or white, depending on the design.

  • If I use the new logo do I need sign off on any designs?

    If you are using any of the templates or downloadable resources that is already designed in the University identity then you will not need to seek approval. However, if you are looking to design some high-level collateral for external usage, such as a publication, annual report or developing a campaign concept, this will need to be approved by the University’s Editorial Board. If you are based in a College, please contact your head of Marketing & Communications, or if in Professional Services, the University’s Brand Team for more information as to whether your project needs approval.

  • Can I alter the logo dimensions?

    The logo dimensions cannot not be resized. There are a number of different formats that should be suitable for your needs.

  • Do I need permission to use certain images and footage?

    If you are using images and footage from the Brand Portal then you will not need permission.

  • Can individual Schools, Colleges, Professional Services divisions and research centres use their own branding?

    No. All areas must use the University’s identity. Please refer to the guidance in Brand Essentials for when a Secondary University Logo can be used. They are permitted for areas that form part of University’s organisational structure such as Colleges, Schools, Departments, or can be used for the name of a service to staff or / and students. A Secondary University Logo is also used for all research centres / institutes. Those that are classified as a ‘Major Nationally Recognised Research Centre’ may also apply to have a graphical identity.

  • When should I use the typography?

    The new typography has been selected to align with the University’s identity and has been tested widely for its accessibility when the correct guidelines are followed. For any University or College level external communications, such as reports, publications, presentations at conferences or events as well as any marketing activity, the new typography should always be used. For everyday usage in Office 365, such as using outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint etc, then the web safe alternative fonts should be used which are Times New Roman (for Canela Deck) and Arial (for Manrope).

  • Can I access the Technical Guidelines?

    The ‘Technical Guidelines’ section is aimed at designers, film makers, editors etc who will need more detailed guidance on how to produce collateral in the University’s identity. If you think you need access, or need to provide access for an external agency, then please contact the Brand Team in the first instance.

  • How do I obtain a copy of the University logo?

    You can download the University Logo from the Brand Essentials section of the Brand Portal.
